A day hike

We took a nice little day hike with Tob on a beautiful day in the fall. And it was a good chance for me to try to get back in hiking shape after baby....boy was it a steep hike too! Check out the pics...

This was the last bit of the hike....windingly steep and unforgiving! But the view was worth it!!!

Oktoberfest 2009

So, we're a little behind on blog postings so I thought I'd do some catching up. Here are a few photos from our Oktoberfest weekend in Mt. Angel where Tobit and I were groupies for the Z-Muzikmakers, Nichlas's polka band.

Tobit's first meal!

Ok, well obviously we've been feeding him. I mean Tobit's first meal of somewhat solid food, consisting of rice cereal mixed with breastmilk.

He did great! Ate the whole thing on his first try. You can watch the whole thing below!

Happy Birthday Mamig!

Tobit wants to wish his Mamig a happy birthday!  So, he made her a card....

but got upset because he couldn't hold it up himself....

and after all that work....

he did what he does best....

Tobit Alexander Schaal

OK, so we're a little behind here updating for the last 6 months or so....but, our latest announcement is the birth of our baby boy, Tobit Alexander. Born Tuesday, April 28 at 9:12 AM, 20 inches long, 7 lb 4 oz.



I'd say he's a keeper :-)

Nichlas and I are doing well, just adjusting to having a newborn. Tobit's first month of life has flown by, just trying to get from one feeding to the next. I've had a pretty good recovery, though I'm trying to remember not to do too much, and things like cleaning will get done when they get done!

We'll update more with new photos soon! But for now, Tobit says hello (or grunts in his sleep, as he is quite peaceful right now).
